Contemporary Abstract Landscapes
Living between the South Downs and the Sussex coastline, Daizi-May draws inspiration from the ever-changing landscape around her.
Working primarily from memory, she explores the relationship between colour, light, form and space, allowing familiar landscapes to become something more abstract and dreamlike. Using a palette knife, she intuitively layers and removes oil paint, building surfaces that move between smooth, harmonious passages and expressive, tactile marks.
Her paintings sit between familiarity and fantasy, capturing the emotional experience of being immersed in nature. They evoke a sense of escape, serenity and distance, while reflecting her curiosity and appreciation for the natural world.
